Summary of Job

The Adventures South Asia Field Mentor provides spiritual leadership, training, and logistics support for teams and visitors to South Asian through culture and ministry training, relational discipleship, logistical planning, and personal knowledge of and relationship with local ministry hosts.  They are responsible for the utilization of the Teams toward long-term missions goals and the current work of the Holy Spirit in the nation of South Asia.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Adventures South Asia Field Mentor is responsible for the following ministerial duties:

    • Develop deep relationships with ministry partners to ensure the ministry of the short-term teams is impactful, relevant and aligned with the vision and mission of the work of God in South Asia

    • Spending quality time with World Race teams to invest in their spiritual growth and exemplify Spirit-led missions

    • Provide impactful and relevant cultural and ministry training/orientation for any short-term or World Race team

    • Dedicate time towards praying for short term teams, discipling short term teams, and showing by example how to do ministry well in South Asia

    • Disciple South Asian leaders in host churches and other partnerships

    • Strategically plan use of teams to best come alongside long term missions objectives with short term teams

    • Drive communication between AIM office, ministry partner's offices, and ministry hosts

    • Develop a team of ministry partners to complete the fundraising goal. (Amount to be determined). Through this process ministering to partners through prayer and teaching biblical truths is essential. (I Corinthians 9:14, Philippians 4:17) Training for this located at: www.support.adventures.org

  • The Adventures South Asia Field Mentor accomplishes these ministerial duties through the following administrative tasks:

    • Log ministry done by each team to track impact, growth, and gain understanding of how the ministry fits into the vision and mission of the base

    • Develop training material and orientation sessions that are impactful and relevant to short-term teams

    • Research and experiment with best methods and practices for implementing short-term teams into a long-term mission strategy

    • Continual learning of the local language and local culture

    • Implement an evaluation process to gain feedback from short-term teams

    • Meet regularly with leadership, AIM regional director, team hosts, and ministry partner's logistics coordinators

    • Spend time out in the field doing ministry with teams

 

Competencies Required

  • Professing Christian with established record of high Christian character,  integrity, servant leadership, maturity, and a positive attitude

  • Character and Integrity –must have strong Christian moral principles, be trustworthy, honest, fair, and display the Fruit of the Spirit in both word and action

  • Servant leadership – must lead as Christ did with humility, considering their needs above your own and making it your priority to improve those you serve

  • Maturity –must be strong spiritually, responding appropriately with respect to the time and place of every situation

  • Positive attitude – must always be willing to do your best with what is asked of you

  • Understand and embrace the core values, culture, and ministry of Adventures in Missions.

  • Ability to give direct and constructive feedback and correction when necessary for the benefit of short-term teams and implementing them into the long-term vision

  • Demonstrate leadership and vision in managing teams, projects, and initiatives

  • Comfortable with cross-cultural communication

  • Ability to organize retreats, seminars and workshops to develop relationships with hosts in Nalgonda
