Summary of Job

The Adventures Thailand Guest Relations position is responsible for creating positive guest interactions, managing staff relations and bookings, and creating a welcoming spiritual and physical atmosphere for guests during their stay at the Hostel/Guesthouse so that Guests have an exceptional guest experience.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Adventures Thailand Guest Relations position is responsible for the following ministerial duties:

    • Interaction with guests - develop a rapport with guests from when they arrive at the Hostel/Guesthouse until they depart; be ready to share the vision behind the Hostel/Guesthouse and be an example of Christ to them/live out the Kingdom in front of them; be ready to engage in Kingdom conversations

    • Cover the house in prayer - each room is prayed over before guests arrive, each area of the house, each meal

    • Participate in weekly devotions with the team, taking turns to lead

    • Staff relations - get to know the employees and tuk tuk drivers; manage relationships (we see staff/employees/drivers as one big family working together); assist the Staff Manager in dealing with situations that arise

    • World Race - help facilitate debriefs and team ministry, manage the balance between guests and ministry teams when both are present; ensure that the Guest Experience remains exceptional

    • Develop a team of ministry partners to complete the fundraising goal. (Amount to be determined). Through this process ministering to partners through prayer and teaching biblical truths is essential. (I Corinthians 9:14, Philippians 4:17) Training for this located at: www.support.adventures.org

  • The Adventures Thailand Guest Relations position accomplishes these ministerial duties through the following administrative tasks:

    • Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) during your shift - support the receptionist during busy times; be available to help guests; deal with situations as they arise

    • Property Management System - be knowledgeable about and able to work with the PMS in handling reservations, check-ins, check-outs, sale and expense transactions, invoicing

    • Online Travel Agents (OTAs) - be comfortable in each OTA platform to manage bookings and send messages to guests

    • Communication - check email throughout shift and write professionally to guests; make any necessary phone calls when reception is unavailable; communicate information to other employees and staff via the approved method

    • Concierge Services - be knowledgeable about all of the services we offer and about Chiang Mai; be available to talk with guests about what to do during their stay; book tours and transportation; make reservations; order delivery food for guests

    • Finances - manage spreadsheets, handle cash transactions when necessary, balance the books at the end of the day

    • Maintenance - facilitate housekeeping and any necessary repairs

 

Competencies Required

  • Professing Christian with established record of high Christian character,  integrity, servant leadership, maturity, and a positive attitude

  • Character and Integrity – must have strong Christian moral principles, be trustworthy, honest, fair, and display the Fruit of the Spirit in both word and action

  • Servant leadership – must lead as Christ did with humility, considering their needs above your own and making it your priority to improve those you serve

  • Maturity – must be strong spiritually, responding appropriately with respect to the time and place of every situation

  • Positive attitude – must always be willing to do your best with what is asked of you

  • Understand and embrace the core values, culture, and ministry of Adventures in Missions.

  • Leadership (servant-hearted, 1-2 years of leadership experience)

  • Clear demonstration of business aptitude and eagerness to learn more about the business world (problem solving, project management, finance, dashboards, etc)
