Summary of Job

The Adventures Cambodia Local Discipler will be focused on discipleship with local Cambodians by creating and sustaining strategies focused on discipling, empowering, and encouraging locals Cambodian believers in a way that is reproducible in the Cambodian context, starting with the foundations of the Christian faith. The Adventures Cambodia Local Discipler will follow the guidelines of 2 Timothy 2:2 and Matthew 28:19-20.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• The Adventures Cambodia Local Discipler is responsible for the following ministerial duties:                                                                                                                                          
  • Understand soul care and common struggles of Khmer culture
  • Develop a team of ministry partners to complete the fundraising goal. (Amount to be determined). Through this process ministering to partners through prayer and teaching biblical truths is essential. (I Corinthians 9:14, Philippians 4:17) Training for this located at: www.support.adventures.org
  • Develop and execute relationship building opportunities/events with local Cambodians (i.e. gatherings, meetings)
  • Assist the Long Term Leader as needed in any tasks related to long-term discipleship and church planting
  • Assist the Long Term Leader in coordinating and developing relationships with local partners and pastors from the religious community.
  • Guide biblical teaching and discipleship principles throughout the base and the base’s ministry.
  • Lead spiritual development disciplines for local Cambodia laymen and pastors
  • Shepherd local teams as they minister to local Cambodians, utilizing the influence of their relationships with locals to create ministry opportunities
  • Develop deep, intentional relationships with local Cambodians

• The Adventures Cambodia Local Discipler accomplishes these ministerial duties through administrative tasks:
  • Communication with the Adventures Cambodia Team
  • Research of best common practices for evangelism in the Cambodian culture and context
  • Regular reports on the effectiveness of current discipleship strategies
  • Regular reports on the strategy and planning of proposed discipleship strategies
  • Managing costs associated with local discipleship strategies and practices

Competencies Required

• Professing Christian with established record of high Christian character,  integrity, servant leadership, maturity, and a positive attitude

• Character and Integrity –must have strong Christian moral principles, be trustworthy, honest, fair, and display the Fruit of the Spirit in both word and action

• Servant leadership – must lead as Christ did with humility, considering the team’s needs above your own and making it your priority to improve those you serve

• Maturity –must be strong spiritually, responding appropriately with respect to the time and place of every situation

• Positive attitude – must always be willing to do your best with what is asked of you

• Understand and embrace the core values, culture, and ministry of Adventures in Missions.

• Demonstrates a learner mentality that is open to challenges and uncertainty and motivated by new experience and learning opportunities

• Competency in Khmer language - must commit their first year to full time language study and show competency in the Khmer language before fulfilling ministry role.

• Has proven track record of making disciples who make disciples.

• Established knowledge of how to evangelize in cross-cultural contexts.

• Proven knowledge of the Bible and proven ability to teach from the Bible.

• Has track record of healthy interpersonal relationships.
