Summary of Job

The Kitchen Assistant will assist the Food Service Manager in providing low cost, nutritionally sound meals to staff and camp participants by preparing meals, maintaining an orderly kitchen environment, and taking the initiative to pursue excellence in all aspects of the kitchen. The Kitchen Assistant should be willing to do any and all tasks required to maintain an excellent kitchen environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all essential duties and functions prescribed by the Food Service Manager or the Assistant Food Service Manager.

  • In the absence of the Food Service Manager or Assistant Food Service Manager, perform all duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Manage the operation of the kitchen in accordance with all health and sanitation requirements of Hall County and the State of Georgia.

  • Manage serve teams, volunteers, and staff as necessary to provide food service to staff, participants, and guests.

  • Manage serve teams, volunteers and staff as necessary to ensure that the kitchen facilities and equipment are clean and sanitary at all times.

  • Take appropriate measures to meet the dietary requirements of individuals with medically necessary adjustments to their food intake.

  • Support the Food Service Manager or the Assistant Food Service Manager as needed to allow them to perform their management duties to the best of their abilities.


 Job Expectations

  • Satisfactorily comply with all of the responsibilities of the job.

  • Provide an atmosphere in the kitchen and dining area that is conducive to the tone of the event(s) in progress at the time

  • Conduct themselves in a respectable manner, arriving on time for their shifts and staying on site until all required tasks are completed

  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with the Food Service Manager, Assistant Food Service Manager, serve team, or other volunteers

  • Maintain a positive, can-do outlook on their work

  • A willingness to take on any task that betters the kitchen or kitchen staff

  • Open to receiving both instruction and feedback from Food Service Manager or the Assistant Food Service Manager
